Finally… Moisture That Lasts: Your Guide to Hydrated Coily Hair
If you feel like you moisturize your hair but it’s dry again within hours, you’re not imagining it. Coily and curly hair types are prone to dryness—not because your hair is “bad,” but because the tight structure makes it harder for natural oils and water to travel down the strands. At MabuTribe, we believe moisture is a right, not a luxury. Here’s how to make it last.
What Is Moisture Really? Moisture = water. Not oils, not creams—water. Products like oils and butters don’t moisturize, they seal moisture in. So step one? Add water. Step two? Seal it in before it evaporates.
The LOC Method for Long-Lasting Moisture This simple but powerful routine works in 3 steps:
- L = Liquid: Use our Hydrating Mist daily or every other day. It’s water-based and infused with aloe vera and humectants.
- O = Oil: Follow with Scalp & Hair Oil—a blend of castor, marula, and olive oils that locks moisture in.
- C = Cream: Finish with Shea Aloe Butter to soften, stretch and protect the strand.
Bonus for Super Dry Hair: Add Nourishing Pomade as a final step after Shea Aloe Butter to seal in hydration even longer and provide extended moisture throughout the day. Especially helpful for tight coils and low-porosity hair.
Tips to Maximize Moisture:
- Use a microfiber towel or t-shirt to dry hair (not cotton towels)
- Avoid humectants in very dry climates unless sealing properly
- Sleep with a satin bonnet or pillowcase
- Moisturize before manipulation (e.g. before styling, not after)
